Need input on tires... my new dually currently has 215/85R16's on it. I need something taller and I know 235's will fit, next size up from there is a 255/85R16. Anyone know if they will fit on a dually without rubbing? Local tire shop is willing to test fit and check for me today as well. But, once I do that I am committed to buy 6 tires. The old ones have dry rot and they won't re-mount them.

A 255 is wider I thing they will fit without a load but need a 1" spacer to really haul loads

That's going from memory from a long time ago but pretty sure you will need a spacer before you put a load on em

It is wider. 10" compared to 9.25" nominal of the 235/85. Technically, I would be taking only 3/4" out of the space between the tires. I might get away with only a 1/2" spacer if I need one. I need to look at the rear studs and see how much thread I have left or if spacers mean new studs...

Like I said pretty sure you can drive around on 255s just can't load it down so the tires are bulging.

I looked at this a while back because I have 4.56s with a 465 ( or will when I get it put together) 315s require a 2" spacer that's what I want to run

What kind of tires are the 255/85/16s?

There is only a few companys that make them.
Mine are Toyo m55s.

I'm going to put 265/75's on mine....hopefully without issue!
they are wide 265's too. Good year duratrac, seem to be wider than any other 265's I've run across.

BFG MT's are available from discount tire and Les Schwab has a couple different tires available in that size. Only problem is the Les Schwab website doesn't give me any sizing info.

Are you running yours on a dually?

No sorry SRW.

Another option may be going to a 19.5 steel wheel... 225/70R19.5 is available in an MT tire at Les Schwab. Only issue is $369 ea for the tires compared to $180-220 for the 16's.

255/85/16 on c&c 14ff rear no weight on just empty. cooper s/t tires

and as for spacer need hub centric spacer to center outer drw as the std spacers dont center the outer rim . drw dosnt center off lugs like normal rims.

265 fit with 2" spacers perfect like factory i have done this before for a guy. and here is the spacers he used. http://www.wheeladapter.com/dually_spacers.php also used his spacers on a f350 and f550 trucks i did .

I should follow up on this, I purchased the LT255/85R16 tires. They fit ok without a spacer, but fully loaded they do rub and will require a spacer to avoid damage.

I should have jumped back in too Kenny...I ended up with a 1.5" spacer on the aluminum Weld's....

here is what I ended up with:

Did you go with Aluminum or Steel spacers?
they are steel. 1.5" thick, came with all the lugnuts and studs were installed. He asked me a few questions and had them made to my order and shipped out the next day.

Thanks for updating this. Would it be possible to use a 1/4 spacer on the existing DRW studs to get the space needed for loaded 255/85s?

Zimmer, you are running 265/75s, correct?
