Dude, where\'s my spring???

Howdy Steve,
Got the 1st Alcan spring three weeks ago. Second one was tracked and supposed to be delivered on Wednesday. Cutting it close, but I could still make EJS.

Never got here.

This really sucks, as it's the first EJS I have missed in 14 years. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

I can't get a tracking number from ORD to call UPS. Or I would've.

Well, I call ORD, they call Alcan and leave a message. Alcan apparently calls back and leaves messages.

All I know, I ordered custom springs through ORD, 2 months ago. I was told they were shipped and I got one, 3 weeks ago.

I know that ORD is not responsible for UPS. However, they're responsible for my satisfaction and I am not currently satisfied! I've spent $$$ with them.

I tore apart my truck thinking I had plenty of time and I missed EJS. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

However, this is the ORD forum, is it not?

I am a customer, am I not?

They have a great rep of excellent customer service, do they not?

If you were in my shoes, would you not be pissed? Would you not be looking for information or resolution? Ever have to tell a four year old, after planning something for the first time, that it's not going to happen?

Let's see, I've bought springs, x-over steering, doubler, shifters, shackles, D60 rebuild kits, ujoints, ubolts, bushings, shackle flip and all sorts of other crap.

Still can't drive the [darn] truck.

Sounds like your spring is sitting in the local UPS distribution center near you. It has been there for the last 2-3 weeks. Why UPS hasn't delivered it? Perhaps the sun and the moon are not correctly aligned for them to get a spring on to the truck. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Maybe you could go there to get it? Now that you have the tracking number and information perhaps they will give it to you. Just trying to help. Sorry that you missed EJS.

I am trying to track down the local UPS distro center. I generally don't have time, this is why I have things delivered to my house!
When the tracer was run, they say it's typically lost, in the center. How the [darn] do you lose a 45lbs spring?

Just sucks that it's taken this long to figure out. I hate phone tag and this is three-way!

Well, I spoke with UPS last night. They have no clue where it is.

I seriously hope Alcan is making a new one today and overnighting it to me.

Hope everything works out. IMO 2 months is cutting it kinda close to order essential parts for your truck...

Well, apparently it's in Atlanta. No real reason but that seems to be the story. I guess it's on the way to CA now. I'm sorry for the hassle and the vacation time and all but hopefully it works out OK. Assuming the spring is still OK, it should.

Eh, I was told they could be done in 6 weeks. So, I went with those instead of something off the shelf.

Well, that spring has more miles on it than my K5. I got to finish the build this weekend, if the spring is not all bunged up.

Got the spring(s) yesterday. Apparently, UPS has done this before, couldn't figure out which was mine, so they shipped me 7 springs. Yes, I said SEVEN springs. Most look like toyota. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I almost died laughing too hard.

Question for you:

Which end is which? I thought these were supposed to move my axle forward an inch, but the spring pin has no offset?

It was funny, I looked at the box and it had the heavy sticker on it. The sticker said 170lbs (shipped next day air). I didn't think one spring could weigh that much, so when I opened it, imagine my surprise.
