and now I´ll show what actually works in the front regardless of all ney-sayers.
70x120x5mm square tube, locating pin welded from the inside, and then the block welded to tha axle with some gussets made outoff 50x50x2 square tube.
moved the lower shockmounts on the front axle i bit.also moved the brakehose.this setup worked flawlessly on maxxis creepy crawler 37´s everyday for an entire season, this was my only working car during that period,it saw hiway duty almost everyday, and serious offroading atleast once a week.
the rear was lifted with a skyjacker 4" block kit,no relocation of the shocks, wich made a mount brake off the frame, and crack the other side.
this rig was the blue 89,350tbi,th700,np241 10/10b,3.42 gears both open.

the other rig,grey/red 87,is the one I´m building right now,in these pic´s,it got cooper lt radials,31x10,5x15",on std supension,it later got homemade 2"blocks in the back, some fender trimming and cooper s/t radials in 35x12,5x15"it had 350tbi,th700,np208,10/10bolt,3.42 both open.

some other clubmembers rigs is also visible:the military green burb is a 77 if I remember correctly,a k20,d44/14ff,detroit rear,ord schackleflip,unknown front lift springs,ford shocktowers,4.10 gears,owners used to be a member here,ankarback,he drives a overlanding style fj60 now.
the blue/silver k5 is 84-85ish,carbed 350,auto,4.10 or 4,56 gears,can´t remember,arb in the back,35" bfg´s,warn winch,rockers made outof 1/8" steel.

What you have there is not a block. Its a very tall spring perch, which theres nothing really wrong with other than the fact that it contributes to axle wrap.

That being said you'll never spit that out of the front axle because its welded up so theres really nothing wrong with it from a safety stand point.

I would however consider making the area it meets the spring larger.

yeah,a tall springperch sounds right to me also,if I remeber correctly, the std springpad were about 90mm long,so I just added a little bit more, should I do it again,I would probably put in a shortened rear overload leaf to help with the axle wrap, but I never had any issues with it.:waytogo:

I was thinking more in terms of longer than stock like the aftermarket ones they sell to distribute the pressure over more of the spring.

Like these from ruffstuff. Even have specs.
