Ok Gents,

I just purchased an '03 Silverado 1500HD LTZ and I cant figure out for the life of me how to keep the damn seat heaters from turning on every time I start it. I have tried re-programming the seats with them off, but it still doesn't work. I have also tried disconnecting the battery to reset everything but that didn't work either. The owners manual didn't say anything about programming the seat heaters either. How can I go about fixing this problem?

Any help is much appreciated, Thanks

Is there a switch somewhere on the side of the seat in your truck? My 99 Yukon has seat heaters and the switch is on the side. I'm not sure about the change in body styles though.

I have an '03 Silverado and there is a quick disconnect under the seat - no need to cut it.

Stupid question but is the button stuck or are the lights on? any indication the warmer is on or is it just on with no warning? A module replacement may be in order.

Check the technical service bulletins

I've got an 03 Tahoe. It seems that GM generated a bad seat controller that year and it has-on going issues. The primary issue is the memory position, but I think it has problems as you describe as well. Do some research in the technical service bulletins or talk to a dealer.

I've had the dealer reflash (reprogram) the seat controller and it works somewhat better.

A reprogram of the seat control module might fix it, probably has a new calibration available. There were also updated heated seat switches that were flush mounted in the door panel. A lot of people were inadevertently turning on the heated seats by putting their hand on the door panel or when using the window switches because the heated seat switch buttons stuck out just enough to catch with your hand.
