So I just randomly put my hand on the d-side hub after driving around today.

Hot to the touch. Not "OH GOD I'M BURNING!" but definitely "hot tail pipe" hot. "DON'T HOLD ONTO THIS!" sorta hot.
If that makes any sense.:wink1:

Speed no greater than about 55mph, stop lights and longer sections at all speeds, winding roads and straight roads, up and down grades, nothing too hard, but nothing consistent.

Bearings are new and were packed back in September.

I'm sure after doing 55mph you wouldn't want to hold onto the hubs for any length of time. Just think that all of the heat transfer from the rotors also make it to the hubs as well. You ever grab a hot brake rotor before?

No...cause it'd be hot.

What has spurred this all on is I have a sort of creaking noise coming from the front ever since we rebuilt everything. Not like a metal on metal noise but something creaks.

ERK ERK ERK ERK ERK. I think it comes from both sides but I can only really hear it well on the d-side obviously.

However the truck seems to run, drive, steer, and stop fine enough and the ball joints, bearings, and tie rods seem nice and firm when you grab the tire and do the old wiggle test.

Creaking bushings? Body mounts perhaps? My blazer does the same thing and I have a new set of Poly body bushings to install at some point.

Well, yeah...could well be.

It was in Seattle it's entire life. None of the bushings on anything scream "REPLACE ME" but many look like the best years of their life are behind them.
Makes me want to put new springs and bushings in more.

could be brake hose hanging up a bit. Compared to the other side, is it hotter or colder? You can feel the brake grab though. I got a squeek on mine as well, and i just lubed everything up, so i need to chase that.
