I can honestly say ive never driven my blazer with the topper off. I had the top removed to replace seals and that was it and that was a body shop that did that.

Planning a trip to TN for some wheeling in April and thinking of going topless. How is it on the freeway with no topper and maybe windows up? or down?

I would leave the top on until you get where youre going. Ya never know about rain. Driving with the top off is awesome! Getting caught in the rain without it sucks.

If you take the roof off with out a cage or a roll bar the roof above your head will make lots of flexing noises when you are out 4x4ing with it.

At least the one I had did, but it was kinda rusty.:dunno:

Anyone else have that happen to them?
Mine was a 78.

My top comes off in the spring and goes back on in the fall.

But I don't have an interior to worry about getting rained on.

With that said, top off and windows up is about equal to driving a pick up truck with a rear slider window open.

Top off and windows down, you get more airflow to say the least. It's not an uncomfortable amount either. I find it relaxing.... or refreshing.... whatever it is there's just something good about it.

When I get caught in the rain I just roll up the windows and I can stay dry, even during a hard rain and going down the highway. But if you have carpets and interior back there, everything is gonna get soaked.

That's the nature of the beast. I hear my roof panel "pop" when I get the truck all twisted up.

make sure you have no loose items to float around, including sand, and debris. Or just wear a set of goggles:eek1:

Thats cool.

My interior is LIne X'd, no carpet. If I do take top off for trip, ill yank rear seat out. Ill be totting an ATV and will use that on the trip and K5 will stay in the campground, so I wont be wheeling it but I do have a pretty stout 4 point roll bar built.

If you don't have interior worries, I'd say go topless. Fun to drive, and the K5 feels a little more nimble without that hunk of fiberglass on top.

you going to the mountains? snow is still possible in the 3K' plus areas.

Seriously?!!! Then why on earth have you not driven with the top off? You're missing out.

And the sand will kick up for a bit till it all blows out or settles. Just part of the fun I guess.

Don't worry about the rear seat, unless you need to remove it for the quad? If it rains, the seat will get a little wet, you could just fold it up. Once the rain stops, just unfold it and let the sun dry it out. No big deal.

Good to know...i kinda wondered that.

my interior is bedlined, but I always worry about leaving the top off and letting the rear seat get all wet. since I cant take the top off by myself...I have to wait til a buddy is over to take it off....and then wait again until someone is around to put it back on.

Summertime was full vert top off and doors off. Just threw towels over the seats to keep the dew off. It wasn't too loud on the freeway either.

Alabama weather report if you are going up I-65...

It has rained almost non-stop since the beginning of January....and shows no signs of slowing down...we've got over 9" of rain so far this year...it's about to drive me insane, but if you head up the interstate I would leave the top on till you get there...because around here it can be 68 and raining today and 22 and freezing tomorrow...
