Is the 6.2 oil filler cap the same as a regular SBC cap?

Apparently not that dumb a question. All I can say is the cap seems similar to the one on my old 350, but I never made a side by side comparison.

Apparently!
I'm afraid to go to the local parts stores for fear they'll try telling me "There were no '87 Chevy trucks with diesel engines"; and I'm just not in the mood for the attitudes at the local NAPA...

What a coincidence, at the local NAPA here in town, they didnt believe that i had a diesel blazer, according to them it didnt exist. They had lots of fun trying to find the distributor.

Thats FREAKIN FUNNY!!!!!:haha:

I hear ya. It's the Pep Boys/AutoZone/National Auto/ABC Auto Parts GED-failing clowns that I'm afraid of. My local NAPA crew probably knows there are diesel Blazers, but they're a miserable bunch of old farts who hate working with people (good line of work for them, eh??  ), therefore I avoid going in there unless I know chapter, verse, and part number of what I want/need.

So back to the original question...

They are supposed to be different, mine is a taller vented cap. They are supposed to allow the water vapor out of the crank case. don't know if this helps.
