Sounds stupid but want others input. 91 350tbi with 700r4 tranny. Unknown diffs, covers have been resealed and rear has a different cover. Well the dang thing shifts a lot. Like 1st is shifts to 2nd a a touch of the throttle. 35mph back roads loves to shift alot like under a gear or over a gear.

Any suggestions on staying in a gear longer or is that the nature of a 700r4? It’s not redlining or bogging just annoying.

It’s a solid tranny shifts solid too. Just buggered on this.

Have you upsized the tires and left the stock gears in? That will make it shift more. If the TV cable is too loose, it will step up in gears at low RPMs (and burn up). Not knowing the history of the vehicle, many things are possible, like a diesel governor or some transmission mods. If everything is set up right and the only issue is needing higher shift points, the governor can be modified or swapped for the Camaro one, but troubleshooting first, changes later.

I put 35s on mine and would like to adjust mine as it shifts way too much/early, what is the proper procedure for adjusting the TV cable?
Transmission shifts nice and firm otherwise.

The procedure has been posted many times, so please search, rather than me make up an explanation that might be confusing. It's definitely good to check to make sure the transmission is set right, but it won't compensate for having the wrong gears. Also, many threads on why re-gearing is good and what ratios work best with what.

Might be that your gearing at the axle is too low. Mine was shifting all over the place when I had 3.08s in, now with 3.73s she's pretty happy.
