never heard of that one, i have only seen them behind the water pump (straight up) or off to the driver side.

if the motor is out then clean the back of the block on driver side bell housing lip. then get the casting # and post it up or search it. this will help you determin the block used . then if the pad on the pass side front of the block were the alt covers it up look for stamped in # and letters. if there is then search them. this will pin point the use of the motor to a vehicle and hp rating.

The 882 heads are so-so, better than most smog era heads but they don't compare to the newer vortec stuff. 882 heads are very common on 70's Chevy trucks.

AFAIK, all truck 350's in that era were 4 bolt mains. But yeah, they are the more desirable block (even though it doesn't really matter unless you're running 400-500 hp).

i know the vortecs are good is it worth it to get them from the scrap yard or should i get new or is it worth it to keep the 882s

yup they sure did .... kinda pointless tho ... IMO but i guess the fuel economy was a little better

My all original 1970 Impala with 400 SBC has a 2bbl. That car still moves though, it's not slow. Get's 19mpg on the highway too, really, that's no joke.

yeah my boys 72 monte has the same motor... it would move good with the 2bbl but... we just added a new 4bbl holley s/a and MAN what a differnce thing runs like a raped ape now and as long as he isn't throttle happy the fuel mileage is only a little less than the 2bbl...

also i was thinking of runing torq tube headers, weilend street warieor intake, and a 650cfm edelbrock offroad carb, any one use these and what were the results good and bad
