i see in some peoples sig line they list a duramax-6 speed...is this the automatic allison tranny or is it a 6 speed standard trans? if its a standard can it be used behind a bbc and in front of a 32 spline np205?

also how hard is it be to get a nv4500 to hook up to a 32 spline np205?

I think that the 205 might bolt straight up... And yes, there is a 6 speed standard behind the early Duramax engines. I can't imagine why it couldn't be bolted up behind a BBC, so long as the crank offset isn't different...

It could be either. A six speed manual (ZF S6-650) was available until early '05 (I think). I don't know of any adapters for this transmission, I believe it has a standard Chevy bolt pattern but you're on your own for t-case adapters.
In mid '06 The ONLY trans you can get with a LBZ Duramax is a 6 speed Allison.

NV4500s are quite easy to adapt, contact Advance Adapters for t-case adapters, and run a search on this site for all the ins and outs, bellhousings, clutch linkage etc.

Let me see what I can do for you. I have 2 D-Max/ZF6's :D. They quit making them on Dec 11th 06'. That was the last day you could order one    .
A 32pline 205 will not bolt up because the ZF6 is a 29spline like the Dodge nv4500. An Atlas will bolt up to it though I'm told. I'm in the process of trying to gather the info to get a 205 behind my 01 because I sledpull it and don't much care for the np263.
The ZF6 for behind a 8.1 is the same IIRC but requires a different flywheel.
A nv4500 will bolt up to a D-Max with a custom flywheel and than you can use a gm nv4500 with a D60 swapped in :D.

One guy I know has a D-Max/nv4500/205 with a D60 up front. Not finished but it will be sweet.

Any more questions feel free to ask :D.

Yes there is. Gen 1 dodge cummins with the getrag 5 speed had a passenger side drop, 29 spline imput.

I also converted a Dodge NP241 passenger side drop to 29 spline with a input shaft out of a LH drop 241

10-4 on that.......I have a passenger drop 29 spline 205 in my garage. uses a 29 spline coupler just like the 465/205........this will bolt directly to the back of a NV4500.

rare though, only application was as said 1st gen dodge behind the 5 spd getrag.

Hahaha.......great minds think alike! Waaaaaay ahead of you brother........
Although I have no idea what the back of a Gm ZF6 look like....this is on the back of a NV5600 which is identical to the NV4500

No,but there is a Ford 31spline and a Dodge input could be used. Not sure the Dodge 205 has a male or female input. Anyone have one handy??

Like blaker said, cummins dodges with the getrag is where to look. They have a male input gear, with a sleeve like the 10 spline 465 setup.
