Duramax guys?

Anyone think injector cleaner like Sea foam or Hotshots secret be worth even trying!?

When I bought my lb7, it had about 317k miles and had the exhaust smoke indicating leaking injectors. I put it on a pretty regular diet of Seafoam hoping to clear it up some. Plus, I've had good results with Seafoam in general. Seemed to help some. That was 5 or 6 years ago, and the injectors finally started to drop out this past October around 392k miles.

I can't say for sure that the Seafoam kept them going that long, but it wouldn't hurt to see if it helps. The level of smokiness (is that even a word?) did seem to correlate to when I was or wasn't running it.

I like running this stuff I read about online once upon a time called Drew's Brew. It's 16 ounces of Diesel Power Service(white or grey bottle depending on time of year) and 8 ounces of Marvel Mystery oil mixed together. I think I ran half a bottle to a tank of fuel. I have never been consistent with it long term but I did notice improvements in how the engine ran and idled. They said that you will notice a mileage drop at first as it cleans things out and then it would pick back up and I did see that. I figured it couldn't hurt anyway with how little sulfur there is in diesel fuel now days it needs any lubricity you can added back to it.

Have you run the ac delco injector cleaner at all? You remove the suction and return at drivers valve cover and run hoses into a gallon and let it cycle through. I’ve heard that’s the best bet.

I’ve read about it, haven’t done anything yet...

Its my father in laws truck.
The first pic is at a parade 2 years ago. Nebraska 4H
is the club the kids were in.
He doesn’t drive the truck anymore so we are going to use it till I figure out what wrong with mine?
Eventually we will take over the 2012 and sell the 02 or I’ll keep the 02 for a spare.

I took it to a shop in town for some testing. What we figured is that one injector has a high return rate when it’s warm on the passenger side of the engine.
Still runs fine and starts good when it’s cold. I’ll get around to fixing it one day.

Been running Howe’s Meaner cleaner 16 oz for one tank 8oz in this tank they suggest 3 per tank... It’s starting quite a lot better warm then it has. So much so that I actually shut the truck off when we go to town. Lol? I want to see what happens after a few tanks?

The 2012 is clean and parked in its spot in Grandpas garage.

I haven't done anything with the injectors other than dumping 5oz of Power Service Diesel Kleen in every tank. It has been starting so good there is no point in changing any injectors at this point.
We drive our 02 everyday and put Grampas 12 back in its garage at their place. We just take the 12 If we need to go a long distance from home or tow heavy, otherwise ours has been fine!
