well my dad called me and said he found a chevy withe a duramax in it, has the old style interior and the rounded front end so im assuming early 2000's
work truck package 2wd with 80k on it
truck needs an alignment and maybe some other front end work, and has a throttle position sensor light on.
it was used as an old lawn sevice truck and the junkyard its sitting in wants 1200 for it.
is it worth it? and did the duramax have the allison that early on? if not what tranny does it have.
also what problems did the early duramax trucks have?

WOW! I'd check it out thoroughly, that seems like a VERY low price for a DMAX with only 80k on it to me. I've seen totalled ones priced higher than that. What all's wrong with it? IIRC all the DMAX trucks have Allisons, the vans were the only ones that ran 4L80E's. It's gonna be a 5 speed Allison, the 6 speed didn't come out 'til 2006 or so. It's actually the same trans, a 5 speed Alli can be converted to be a 6 speed, I think the valve body and the PCM are all that are different.
