Duramax Suburban - IFS Rebuild

Think we're talking about "a new trailer plug. Had been getting current bleed from brakes to turn, and a new trailer plug and rear light jbox fixed it. I tow a lot of different flat 5 wire trailers, as most ski boats still use flat 5. So, this badass plug has both round 7 and flat 5, fit the stock bracket, and I get to throw away all my adapters!!"

Which I think is like

Yup, the 7 wire RV with flat 4/5 plug!! Already ordered!! Tossing out all my adapters will be awesome!

Grats on the new white burb!

I may have missed it...what rearend and gears are in this thing? Is it still the 14bsf with 3.73 gears (that came with the 6.0 3/4 ton burbs)?

Nope. 10.5 or 11.5 out of the Hd truck.

Need to verify which. Should be 3.73's to match the stock front.

Probably the 10.5 14bff then, cause I thought the AAM 11.5 didn't come in 3.73 (thought they only came with 4.11's)...I could be wrong though

The bolts all say 10.5. Need to remind myself if it has the removable pinion or not.

The shape of the pumpkin on each (14bsf, 14bff, and AAM) are all very unique, so if you have a picture of it we could tell.

Correction on the AAM, I think some of them came with 3.42 gears and some came with 4.11's. I'm sure someone with more knowledge could chime in if I'm off there.

But the only reason why I asked is cause if you still had the 14bsf rear end in that thing like it came from the factory with, I would still be somewhat hesitant to tow really heavy with that thing (meaning upwards of 10k+ load....and emphasis on "somewhat" hesitant. Your boat is totally fine no matter what). Cause with the torque that d-max is putting out, with a load on there that is really heavy, the 9.5" ring gear/bearing would start to see a lot more stress than initially intended. Not saying you couldn't do it for a while, but eventually I would assume there would be rear-end issues.

However, if you say you at least have the 14bff in the rear, then you should be totally fine in my book. I was just wondering

Definitely one of the AAM axles. Just haven't confirmed 10.5 or 11.5.

Had axle seal issues, whatever seal i ordered seemed to fit, but I think a lot of the outer parts interchange.

My 8.1 truck had 3.73's. They are fairly common both 3.73 and 4.10

Learn something new....I thought most came with 4.11's...I stand corrected....still glad you don't have the 14bsf in there though....that was a good choice to swap that out :thumb:
