Duramax Suburban - IFS Rebuild

Well that just looks sweet.

I guess technically it just looks like a nice suburban. But we know what lurks underneath.

Made it home!

Spent the first 10 min of my initial meeting looking over, and nit picking small appearance items.

Then, I got behind the wheel, and couldn't peel the grin off my face!

It is a beast.

Looks a bit goofy with 245's, but I'll have to live with it like this for a while, as I just opened escrow on a house.

Overall, body, interior, are in good shape. Dash, console, etc needed some SERIOUS cleaning, but it is looking better. Removed some goofy parrot bluetooth thing, and am getting the right cables for the PAC AUX interface that is in it.

Truck basically functions how it should from GM. Only funky things right now are the steering wheel buttons for the dash display don't work (gauges aren't original to the body), and there seems to be some issue with the fuel gauge. Runs full forever, then decides to be empty, then full again. I'll chat with Travis on that one.

Overall, I'm stoked. Motored all the way up the hill at 70-75, easily could pass, smooth, loads of power, shifts firm.

Can't wait to hook my little boat trailer to it tomorrow!

The stuff dreams are made of!
Congrats man!

nice looking suburban. I picked up an 03 awhile back but its a 1/2 ton gas. What parrot bluetooth was in it? I may be interested in buying it from you if you want to part with it. If you keep the stock radio, I found a write up on how to splice into the xm radio for an aux input.

The parrot thing was kinda broken, and now more broken after my frustrations removing it

The truck has a PAC aux/ipod adapter in it, so i'm just waiting for the proper cable to be able to hook up an aux cord. Should work fine.

I'm torn on mine whether I want to keep the stock headunit and Bose system. It sounds decent, just wish it had Bluetooth.

glad to see you got her home safely :D

Traffic was crazy with all the burning man tards on the road

!

That is how the factory gas gauge works. Our's is an 8.1, so it drops a hell of a lot faster than your, and it does the same thing. The reason being is that your Suburban has dual tanks. There is the main tank (the big one you can see) that houses the fuel level sensor. The secondary tank is above the spare tire. This thank is where the fuel goes into when fill the tank. This tank gravity feeds the main tank, which is why the tank shows full forever, and the suddenly starts showing a drop.

I didn't mean that it drops quickly. It literally only reads full or empty. Think it's a wiring issue.

Currently, it is supposed to be programmed to just show level in the main tank. My goal is to get the body programmed to control the dual tanks again, like factory.

Very interesting. My dad likes Suburbans and would like a Dmax burb. I just sent him the link to that CL add on that '02 in Sacramento.

If you don't mind me asking what did this cost you? Who is this guy Travis? I'm also interested, I want to put a Dmax/Ally in my K30.
