Does anybody know where to get replacement dust caps for the front hubs on a 74 Blazer?
The Mr. Gasket ones they claim are correct are waaaaaaaaaay too small.

dust caps?....shouldnt you have a knob on it to engage it to 4wd?

if you dont buy some warn hubs
Nope, right idea but wrong in this case I am guessing. Most likely he has drive pucks and a full time 203, so no locking hubs. As for where to get them, I am not real sure. I will talk to my buddy and see if he found the one for his 79, after he spit a puck out a couple weeks ago.

He's talking about the dust cap that is there in place of the locking hubs with full time 4wd tcase.

To the best of my knowledge no one makes those, might have to hit up yards or for sale forums.

Okay, heres some NOS ones...not a bad deal at $25 a set

First off, how the heck did you find these? I have been looking on eBay for months now....
I have the NP205 with pucks, so technicaly I maybe could put Warns on there....but I am shooting for "stock"....
Thanks for finding these...and NOS at that! This thing is sending me to the poorhouse....:doah:but how do you turn down NOS....I haven't seen another set of these anywhere and theres nothing but rust at the parts yards on these.

I got madd skills :pimp:

Putting a set of selectable hubs on there wouldn't make it incorrect for that application. With the NP205 I would put selectable hubs in there, if nothing more than to save some wear and tear on the front axle shaft u-joints and driveshaft.

But, to each his own...

Ive never seen a factory TH350 truck between 73 and 79 that didnt have a 203. Maybe some swapping has gone on in the past?

The most surprising thing to me is that everything, and I mean everything, appears to be the original stuff on this truck. Everything has the inspectors number written in on the backside of all sheetmetal and in the dash....
They came with NP205 in 1974 as an option I believe...

Ahhh...yes they did....look at the original brochure:

They only came behind manual trannies or any tranny that was behind an inline six cylinder. Either way, it should have had locking hubs to begin with... I would think. You never really know for sure, since they could have ran out of locking hubs one day at the factory or something.

if mee and wanted to go lockout hubs go find a set of old stock spicers .

not mine but what you would want for strength. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dana...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5640dce73f
If you're really into the "stock" scene, do what sweetk30 said: get Spicers. They're the best bet to "stock" with a 205 'case. You won't go wrong with those.

I wouldn't run dust covers, solid hubs or slugs with a part-time 'case or a 205. Get lockouts. The parts and internals in the front axle will last longer.

I had a '75 F150 once and it had fulltime 203 with solid hubs. One day I was at a friends house and got in to leave. I put the truck in reverse and there was a horrific grinding sound. The front driveshaft was spinning while the truck was in gear. It would not move. Thats with the 203 in 2-hi. Put it in 4-hi and it was able to move and drive.

Later dug into the front D44 and found the splines on the both shafts and both spiders stripped completely. The fulltime status of the 203 along with the mileage of the truck finally wore the splines down to where they stripped out.

Had to replace both shafts, spiders and convert the 203 to part-time. Problem solved.

You will get better mileage with lockouts and 205 compared to solid hubs since the solids will have the front axle shafts spinning fulltime.

My glovebox sticker says it came with a V8 350 so it must have originallty come with a 203...not that I am complaining...most people want the NP205.

Ah, just stick with what you have and find a BIG set of Bearing Buddys..........:D
