dust covers ??

can i get rid of the "dust covers" that rap around the rotors on my dana60 and if i can would i need to make some sort of washer to replace the missing material behind the spindle

and by can i get rid of them i know i can just unblot them i mean will them missing affect anything

i have seen some pictures of guys 60s with them gone but thought i would ask

i dont know why but i hate them and want to take them off the next time i have the axle apart THANKS

I threw mine away over 4 years ago and have never had a problem.

You don't need them but I left mine in.

Mine were in perfect condition, but pitched em anyway. Hate it when I got mud/rocks between the rotor and the cover....scrap scrap scrap.
