dust covers

I found out the other day that the dust boot for my outer cv joint on the right front is torn apart. This didnt make me too mad but what did was the disasembly procidure on my truck, i estamated that its going to take me about 5 hours (i have do take everything but body work off that side)and im suposed to be going out to a friends property north of town for the weekend. That made me mad, so i just thought id rant here and mabe blow off some steam. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

Obviously this isn't on a 2nd Gen K5. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif If it's an IFS Chevy truck, you can usually get the axle out by just unbolting both ends and the sway bar (to get it out of the way). If you turn the wheels just the right way you can slip the axle out of the back of the hub. If you still can't find the magic spot to get it out you can unload the torsion bar and pop the top ball joint loose. This will give you plenty of room to get the half shaft out of there. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Oh yeah, that method doesn't take anywhere near 5 hours. I can swap out a half shaft in about 45 minutes. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
