Does anyone here have the Equus Innova 3340 DVOM and if so do you like it or dislike it and why? I'm in need of a DVOM for work and this one looks like it has every feature I could ever ask for (for my needs and then some) and since I have a 25.00 cashback reward on my discover card that I can use on Amazon I could pick it up for $44.00.
I didn't comment on this thread, because I didn't see any way I could give a useful answer.
If I had seen anything in the specs that looked iffy I would have, but it looked fine.
Not a meter I would buy probably, but only because it does not fit my field like it does yours
I have a
lot of meters, but not one that has some of those features. If I were in the automotive repair business I would grab one for sure.
And, while I realize its out of your price range, I wish someone who does that work and hangs out here would get a scopemeter of some kind.
I remember when Fluke came out with one that had specialized auto probes with it.
That was when some folks figured out how to do a quick and dirty compression check with a scopemeter set on record and an inductive amprobe.
Everytime a cylinder compresses, it creates a current spike in the battery cable.
By comparing the spikes, you can see when a cylinder is weak.
Some of the guys rigged a way to trigger it off number 1, so you could count the spikes and tell which cylinder it was.
But, the nicest part was the recordings.
They built up a library of injector voltage and current patterns, ignition trigger patterns, oxygen sensor patterns, crank position sensors, just about any sensor or trigger you can name.
Then, when you had a problem, you could record your car and compare it to good and bad recordings.
I found a bad crank position sensor that was causing an occasional skip that way.
The pulses were all there, but they did not look like they should, and every once and a while the computer would fail to recognize one.
Of all the high tech stuff that goes on around here, it seems like no one uses a scope much.
Since I'm in electronics, its one of the first pieces of test equipment I reach for.
In fact, I have twice considered sending y5mgisi my Fluke so he could look at the injector pulses on that weird problem he has, but he lives so far away and we don't have anything to compare them to.
Let us know how the meter is. Even though I would have no use for it, I'm starting to want one............
