i fond a dana 60 front but is a (DWR) for 900.00 it has 4.56 gears and is in pretty good shape do you guys think thats a good deal or should i just look for a (SRW) 60 its going on a 88 suburban. thanks lance

how long have you been on the hunt for a 60 and how much are the SRW ones you are finding? I am not sure what the total cost and parts of DRW to SRW swap is but someone will chime in on that. It may be worth the time to pick it up if you need to replace wheel bearings and stuff like that anyway.

all the SRW ones im finding are any where from 1200.00 to 1500.00 and most of them just have 4.10 gears .

I would buy it all D60 start at 1,000 around here. And just go up From there
Go to Priate in the vendor section they have people that sell kits to convert to srw.

i found one SRW for 900.00 but it only has 3.73 gears in it

well if you want 4.56+ gears then I'd buy it. If you get the 4.10 ones you will need to get a whole new carrier to use 4.56 gears. I've gotten a few Dana 60s dirt cheap but it was dumb luck each time.

i went to Priate and i didnt see any vendor section

i went to Priate in the vendor section and i couldnt find anyone who sells kits to convert to srw does anyone know where i can get a kit . thanks lance

Do a search on pirate for 1980cj7(username) and dana 60.That should explain everything. You cant get just a "KIT"all you need are dana 60 srw hubs. You can get them at the dealer or used if you go dealer route they only sell them complete i.e.Hubs,Rotors,studs and races as one complete unit. Not trying to be mean but if you don't know this stuff do you really need a dana 60 or is it just bragging rights.A dana 44 is cheap to free, there are parts everywhere and you can build a dana 44 pretty strong for not to much $$$$$$.

HTH:D

Where are you located? I ask because I get 60's all the time. PM me your email addy and I will discusss further

NOw, to convert a DRW to a SRW all you need to buy are the hub and rotor assemblies from GM. GM wants 229 a piece, gmpartsdirect was 140 a piece shipped, but take a month and the price is subject to change before shipment. They come with studs and races too, all you need are bearings. Then you can sell yours for around $100 to cover some cost.
