The rear window on my 83 K5 is getting worse and worse. Now it won't go up past half way without the engine running. It works okay with the engine running, but the headlights get dim, so it's working kind of hard.

Where should I look first? Wiring, mechanical, electric motor? It was working well for a while after I lubed up all the gears and stuff, but now it's worse than ever.

Check the wires where they run into the tailgate, just tore a friends apart to fix the key switch and found out the wire at the tailgate had broke, the others were corroded pretty bad. If the wires look good then I would see how well your lube has held up, relube if needed, if not then replace the motor, they run about $50 and take about 30 mins to put in.

Hope this helps,
