E brake ? about cable set up

I was told the cables up to 83 were one on each side and the 83 and newer ones are the ones that cross over the pumpkin. Does anybody know if this is the correct year for the change?

I think a look in the LMC catalog might answer that for you. They have detailed pics of the layout of the parking brake cables and bracketry.

I've got an '84, and the passenger's side cable crosses the pumpkin and connects to the driver's side cable. From there, one cable goes up the driver's side to the E brake pedal.

Rocko has an '83, and his cables went straight up to the front --- one cable on each side.

So it seems that '84 is the year they started doing this.
