Will the cables from a 12bolt rear end swap onto a 14bolt?

The 1/2 ton truck I`m scrapping has a nice set on it, I`d like to use them on my kids 3/4 ton.

You'd have to look up the cables by year & model you want to use,and then do the same for the 14 bolt using the year & model it came from--offhand I think that "some" might be the same, depending on how they anchor to the backing plate (I know my 14 bolt has a 2 bolt arrangement to bolt the cables to the backing plates)--1/2 tons usually have the type that just poke thru the backing plate and use a horse shoe clip or an expanding sleeve thing to hold them in the backing plate..

Also 1/2 ton ones might be too short ,the drums are 11" on them,14 bolts are usually 13",but they did come with some 11" drums on certain low GVW models..(never seen any myself!)..

Ah yes you are right Bob! I forgot about the mounting...the 14 has the 2 bolt deal and the big brakes. The 14bolt is a 77FF and the 12 bolt is a 79 2wheel drive axle. I`ll just sell them with the rear end then. Thanks!

I had the "joy" of replacing ALL the E-brake cables on my '82 K2500 last June, the guy went to check them when I went for an inspection sticker--they were froze up tighter than a bulls a$$ ,and he ended up ripping what was left of the cable bracket on the drivers side frame rail right off!...I had to invent a new one,and buy every cable from the pedal back..

If I remember right Autozone had to order the rear wheel and pedal cables and all of them were a bit under $20 each...took me a few days to install them and get it to work--never was able to route the intermediate cable exactly as stock,I had to "skip" one of the wire guides to the frame on the passenger side and also had to add a few inches of threaded rod to the "adjustment" part of it,to get it to reach...the listings said it was "correct"--but it didn't fit quite right..the pedal and rear wheel cables fit OK though..
