Two quick questions. Probably going to be picking up a Windstar e-fan (or an e-fan out of an LS1 car, have to check the local junkyard) and a relay kit from Painless. First, what's the best location for the temp sensor in the wiring kit? Second, when I pull the stock belt-driven fan off, do I need to modify the pulley for the water pump or get another one?

nope just snug down the nuts on the studs to your water pump and that will hold down your pulley so it doesnt fly off and hit you in the face! LOL as for the other part of your question dude not a clue im gonna be looking into doing elec fans pretty quick here though def a good thing!!!

I got the waterproff harness from painless with the 3/8 npt thread in sensor. I have an aluminum radiator so I got a 3/8 female aluminum bung from summit and going to have it tiged to my radiator, but you can also drill and tap top of the water pump.
