Well looks like I'll be heading home early this year. No time to fix the K5 before the trail this morning.

Friday I knocked off the oil pump pickup tube on a hard landing or the flop not sure which. Was planing on fixing it yesterday, but rode with Kieth on golden spike instead.

When we got back I picked up the stuff to do the repair, but before I could even pull the crossmember, had the cops show up. Looks like all the yuppies have taken over Slickrock Campground. Cops said they have been called out the last two nights for people working on their rigs.

I won't be staying here next year. Looks like I drove 14-16 hours each way to wheel GreenDay. :doah:

Still had a blast and am glad I came.

Wtf? You can't work on your truck?
That is bus. What is their problem.

All it takes is a few morons to ruin that for everyone. When I was there is '03 there was a guy that no longer hangs out here...hammering on stuff, running an impact etc, at midnight. Enough of that, and I can't blame the campground people for not allowing it anymore. It does suck not to have a place to make repairs though.

At least you got to wheel.

Mine sat on the truck all weekend. Still had fun. Broke the Sledgehammer in the dunes.

sorry to hear Chris...your truck performed so well last year..

Chris was using hand tools!
Sounded like these same campers complained about the Bar noise from the camp ground pub! Moab is known for 4 wheeling and breakage happens no matter what you have and you should be able to fix it within reason. Chris was doing nothing wrong and I am sorry to hear that some others were so selfish they could not understand that a man spent a lot of hard earned money to make it to Moab to play in the rocks and his Rig broke. Chris was using hand tools not a compressor or impact guns!
Sorry Chris, I hope to see you in 2014!!

I'll be back in 14. It wasn't the campgrounds fault. This year the entire campgground was filled with bicyclists and kayakers. It shut down at dark. Looks like I'll stay at a different place next year. The whole campground seemed a bit more run down this year.

Moab Rim was great. I don't think their going to allow you to do much work there but I know Brent replaced a water pump and did some welding there during daylight hours so they seem to be tolerant of minor stuff.

Slickrock is so run down that I'm scared to even drive in the parking lot for fear of catching some unknown sewer disease.

I agree on slickrock. Pretty run down.

It all depends on the campers around you though on the working on your rig thing.

I have been told to stop during Jeep safari by campground staff.

One year one of the staff of Moab Valley RV came up to me, and said hey man can you stop working on your stuff for like 3 hours? The a holes that complained to me are have to be checked out.

He even offered to come help me later if I needed it

Kind of weird for the cops to be called though

Just work fast till it's halfway apart and then you just have to get it together so it's not sitting there apart any longer.

These places would be wise to set up a work area.

I stayed in a campground in Hurricane Utah that didn't allow working on any vehicles. I had to go across the street and work on mine in the Walgreens parking lot. I was just about finished when a guy drove by and asked if I needed anything and offered to let me use his garage at his house if I needed it.
