They should have stuck w/ the concept rig. I like it better than the production model!

Re: Early spy shots of Chevy \"Avalanche\"

I would much rather drive that than the production model. At least people wouldn't think I spent any money on it. Is that a CJ rollbar I see in the back there?

I've seen better lookin' stuff come out of my dog's butt than the Avalanche.

I saw one of those in the San Antonio area once. I thought it was pretty cool myself. You could probably fab one up for a soft top pretty easy too.

hAVE YOU guy's seen the three door burban in the top truck challange , in 4 wheeler , it's cut like that and on a smaller frame with the back bobbed , that sucker looks cool... Or maybe I'm just dumb.....

<font color=blue> I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy!

Re: Early spy shots of Chevy

you're not dumb. that is a cool truck. i wanna do the 4 door jimmy thing to a sub one day but not the sub i drive around right now, suburbans are cool so my daily driver is staying a sub. that pic steve put up is cool, and yes it does look better than the production mistake known as the avalanche.

Re: Early spy shots of Chevy \"Avalanche\"

I think a Suburban with a Blazer half molded on to it. Take the hole body from the doors back from the blazer then cut the rest of the burb off from the Rear doors back and then add the blazer half. That way you would have a removable top and have a great departure angle. I think that would be the easiest to blend together. They already make the soft tops for the blazers so you would be set.

4 wheeling is like sex, when its good, its really, really good, when its bad its still pretty good.

Re: Early spy shots of Chevy

lets see a fourdoor k5 with a half top (removable)........that would be like the FORD Centeriun(sp). Ive seen 2 of those fords and they are wierd looking birds i tell ya only cool thing about um are the dana 60 axles on them factory

Re: Early spy shots of Chevy \"Avalanche\"

At least that rig is purpose built .
And not built on purpose.
I drive by 3 GM dealerships and they all have that monstrosity sitting in rows in the front.
WTF were the enginers and designers thinking.
That is the stupidest looking rig I have ever seen!!.
What is even worse is that there are some people that actualy buy them.
UUUggh I wouldn't admit to having one buried in my back yard.
Ford comes out with the buggy lookin rig and GM strikes back with the Super Soccer Mom rig.
First the Camaro is put to rest and now this??
If this is the future of things to come then rest assured that I will never buy a new car or truck.
I would much rather invest my time and money in a rig that looks good and performs well as to buying a POS that has no class and no personality.
Thirty some odd thousand dollars would go a long way in building a sweet everyday 4x4 .
With enough left over to build a killer trail only rig.

I dunno maybe it is the kid in me.
I grew up building models of cars and planes and had hundreds of em.
Now I build em out of metal and full scale.
Too bad I can't build them as cheap as I did back then.
But it is still just as much fun.

Re: Early spy shots of Chevy \"Avalanche\"

I just went to the Ag Expo and all the dealer ships were there with their best trucks and some fixed up ones! F*rd had an Excersion with 44's but it didn't even have a front drive shaft! D*dg# had the Dakota that was in 4x4 mag. (solid front axle, red). But Chevy didn't have anything and hasn't for the last 2 or 3 years! This realy makes me mad!!! And when are they coming back out with a truck that has a solid front axle?

Re: Early spy shots of Chevy \"Avalanche\"

I like the Avalanche a lot, but it needs a lot of work, 6 inch lift, solid axle swap, 36s or so, then it would be sweet... have you all seen the ltest Four Wheeler where the compare a stock tahoe, a lifted tahoe, and a solid axle swaped tahoe. The Solid axle tahoe is sweet with its dana 60 front and 6 inch lift...
