Been mulling around the idea for a while and pulled the trigger a couple weeks ago. I'm thinkin that powder coat might last a bit longer than all the rattle can stuff I have done on this thing (The "Anti-Prius) And before you start I know, I know, I'm going to go easy on the green. Anyways most of it looks pretty good for a home brew powder coat

Give us the run down on how your doing it and making parts look nice.

Never tried it but rattle cans do it old.

No it did not come with an oven, and you don't want to bake paint in the oven you cook food in. You can buy one from them or just use an old or cheep toaster oven to start for small stuff. Thats what I did but it works better if you can hang parts so I found a used Electric oven on craigs list for $25 wired it with a 30ft cord to fit my 30amp 220 plug for the clothes dryer and use the oven in the driveway. The initial output cost was about $250 total for the gun and the oven with the longer cord. I also made a make shift spray booth from a home depot wardrobe box and a couple cheapo heater filters with a box fan to suck air. I used the wardrobe box because it comes with a metal bar you can hang parts from and you can ground the sprayer to it. It kinda works it's not perfect. I'll say it's not any easier than painting I just hope it holds up a bit better.

A higher quality powder makes all the difference, I buy mine from powder by the pound

My 1st attempt at a wheel, apparently 2 colors on 1 wheel is an advanced technique actually it's 3 colors because white has to be sprayed then semi baked before the green goes on. Little bit of bleed thru the tape job but hea at least it's in the back where nobody will see it.DSCF1444.jpg DSCF1440.jpg DSCF1441.jpg DSCF1443.jpg

Spent the better part of the last 2 weekends marrying 2 ovens together. Changed the doors to swing out instead of down for better access . 48" tall, 22"wide forgot to measure depth

Just ran across this looking for powder coating oven ideas. What did you do for the bottom element controller?

I’m about on the verge of selling my Eastwood kit and oven. I love PC over rattle but it is an effort. But for small parts just not worth the money to pay for to get them powder coated, Home is the way to go. But I’m losing the space to do it moving my shop. Not to mention just all the energy it all takes to do all this. Owning a powder coat system, including an oven means having to own a grit blast cabinet too. Among plenty of other things.
