Driveshaft Superstore has a 208 SYE kits that comes with a flange that bolts to the tail shaft. This requires drilling the tail shaft and doesn't add driveshaft length. Not a fan of this.

I've seen it somewhere....an SYE kit for a 208 that comes with a CV slip joint driveshaft, new 208 tail shaft, new tail cone, and flange.

Who was it? :D

Tom Woods has a kit where they modify the tailhousing by shortening it and a modified output shaft, they take your core and give you a modified one, last I checked they were charging $450 for the kit, too much for me.
I am doing it myself, I already had that plan 4 years before they came up with it.
You pretty much cut the tail piece that has the seal, and remove the section between there and the bearing, then weld the end piece back. Then you shorten the shaft and you can do the same thing drill it and bolt it up.
All the work can be done by you unless you don't want to weld aluminum then take it to get welded, still shouldn't cost $450.

The Tom Woods conversion is $570+, but it includes the driveshaft. It's not like you can do a SYE and use the old driveshaft anyway. Call TW or HAD and price a C/V driveshaft and you'll see that they are like $400. Now if you're going to stay with standard shaft you can save some money, but why are you even doing the SYE if you don't have vibrations or something to solve?

I keep wondering if TW would sell just the kit. I'm sure the goal of offering the kit is to sell more driveshafts, but maybe they would do it.

JB conversions gets $340 for the NP241 SYE kit.

there is also the method of using the dodge tailshaft and cone on the chevy t-case. there is a member here that did a write up on the conversion with the dodge parts if you search.

There are two ways to use the Dodge parts. The way I did it was to use the whole back half of the Dodge case. The other way is to redrill the back of the Chevy case to to take the Dodge tailshaft housing. Either way, you use the Dodge mainshaft.

One good way to save some coin is to use a stock front output flange instead of buying one of the custom flanges sold by TW and HAD. It's just a standard 32-spline. You probably have one for free anyway if you pick up a used Dodge 208.
