Anybody else had one of these fail ? Popped the helical gears out of my detroit truetrac like crackin a walnut, Just a little to easy to do if you ask me, Got stuck in a ditch an on bout the 7th try gettin out she let go with a bang,
Thought i busted a u joint or something, that would'a been nice. The whole drive train is stock with 33" T/As, the carrier was a pro install near perfect setup, you'd think the truetrac woulda been the last peice to break.
Phoned up (Barney Gwozdz Tech specialist) at Eaton lookin for some help, pretty much blew me off, he said people are runnin 38s and 700hp with truetracs, he claims a less that 1% faliure rate, every one of them in a 12 bolt rear I'ii bet, I think the 12 bolt version should have been cast with more steel, the thing is just too thin ! perhaps the D-60 or 14 bolt version is better but i think the truetrac is a weakling and a waste of time and money ! If your running one in a 12 bolt its a timebomb in my opinion, good luck if your miles in the bush on this one.

i broke the stock 12 bolt with lsd.then a stock open diff.the third one i broke was a truetrack and it blew the gears out through the diff cover and i lost all my gear oil.didnt know what was wrong til i lost the bearings and could barely move.i did make it home however and the diff was smokin from loss of gear oil.after 3 12 bolts i went to 14 bff as everyone else ends up doing.

I run a straight locked 12 bolt , and have had one carrier leak when a tube weld broke , and still drove it home from Utah . The straight locker is a Richmond branded "Lockright" .

I personally think the 7 tries in the ditch had more to do with breaking than the posi type unit you had in there . I could just imagine the amount of throttle involved too .

Not being offensive , just honest , you should of called for a pull from someone in your wheeling group .

No problem with a D44 Truetrac in my 95 ram many years ago and yes I went wheeling.
