I have a corp 10 bolt front with a Eaton Posi 19557-010, Genuine Gear 4.56 and I have another corp 10 bolt front with 3.73 gear in it and what I would like to do is remove the Eaton Posi from the one axle and stick it in the axle with 3.73 gear.

How hard would it be to do this?

You need to pull both your ring gears off and swap the new one on. Your going to have to reset the shims on your bearings and reset backlash. I'm not expert though so correct me if wrong.

that eaton posi is its own carrier, so a complete setup of the axle is required, no biggie, just order a minimal rebuilt kit if your bearings are good. Somewhere online is specs for used gears, use the used gear/ bearing specs to set it up. The minimal install kit comes with marking compound, a new crush sleeve, and a pinion seal.

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to do a complete re-setup as I know nothing about how to do it or have the tool. The shop around town want alot of cash .

I was just hoping that I would have to swap gears on the posi and reuse the 3.73 gear shims.. This is kind of sucking now!!!!

Have a buddy do it, it should cost around 100 to 200 bux for the labor, and that price to me was a reason to learn. If not, then put the axle in open, and lock it later when the funds are avail. A lockrite is around 300 bux new and you don't have to setup gears or anything like that (drop in existing open carrier). Pretty much the rebuild kit and labor costs right there. Then sell that posi, it will work for the car guys as well.
