CO Eaton rear axle

Sometimes they have Detroit lockers. Those locker are worth a couple hundred by themselves. 4.10 is a very desirable ratio if you decide to pop the cover.

Any chance you've driven it? The rear axle in my C20 is noisy so I've been passively looking for a replacement.

Coils. I kinda wish it was leaf because it'd be easier to swap out.
you built a flatbed unit and bobbed a truck down but cant cut & weld a set of perches and shock mounts ?

and fyi . i heard and read years ago a set of 14ff shafts and detroit make them a locker axle over finding the hard to find locker and get you fine spline shafts .

This confuses me. If you have coil springs, and this one has coil springs, what's so difficult? The coil spring trucks have 2 U bolts and a panhard bar. Simple.
Hell, I once had to put the carrier and ring gear back into my C10 at 1 A.M. after getting back from a wrecker call, so that I could go home. The worst part of an axle swap is bleeding the brakes!

@bradshawtech how much are you asking for the cab? And I assume that it doesn't have a title, correct?

I didn't want clutter your build thread to ask.

I mean easier to find a bolt-it replacement. I would like to get a dana60 but those only came with coils for 1 or 2 years.

That's why I posted in this thread, cause this axle would be an easy swap. Just not sure if it's better than what I have. It is better gearing as I have 4.57 gears.

@bradshawtech, I think as long as there isn't serious pitting, it might be fine. I wonder how the bearings are. What do you want for it?

Make me an offer, I don’t have a number in mind.
it rolls smooth and for sure doesn’t have the locker. I can let you have anything and everything in the pics or only what you need.
whoever started to part out this truck cut the u-joint bolts with a torch so you’ll need to use yours.

I stripped it pretty well today, I’ll get pics in the daylight tomorrow. For sure it needs rockers and a few inches into the floor pans and the side walls of the footwells. Cab corners seem to be good. Doors seem solid too, uncut for speakers

How complete of a cab do you need? I’m told that I can get the title but I haven’t pursued it yet.

I don't need a cab, but that doesn't stop me from checking into one that looked decent in the first pictures. I have some parts for a possible future project.
I run across guys who are looking once in a while, which is also part of why I asked.
The doors sound like something useable.
Thanks for the condition report.

What’s a serviceable cab go for nowadays?
