Just a heads up, I sold a fairly valuable guitar on eBay earlier this week. eBay is refusing to release the money the buyer paid into my Paypal account for up to 30 days, OR 3 to 7 days after delivery confirmation of the item. I got a notice from eBay that that payment was received, and when I went to PayPal to verify this, I got a message saying that the money was being placed on hold, with no explanation. I called PayPal, they referred me to eBay customer service, who tells me its ok to ship the guitar, because they have my money. I tell them I will not ship the guitar until I have access to the money. Their explanation was that even though I have a 100% eBay ranking for around a decade, I haven't sold an item for over 90 days, and I have sold less than 26 items( I buy much more than I sell). They refused to back down, and I proceeded to cancel all transactions with eBay(I had 3 other auctions going as of this morning).
They flat out told me my 100% ranking means nothing to them anymore. I told them I was very disappointed, and that if this is the case, that I will no longer do business with them. They could care less. So, not only do they charge a listing fee, PayPal(an eBay company) charges a fee to get paid, and now they are going to hold my money for up to 30 days even though someone tried to pay me for an item. Even the one eBay rep (who actually spoke decent english) agreed with me that she felt the policy is wrong, but there was nothing she could do about it.
So be forewarned, if you haven't sold enough items on eBay, or haven't sold items recently and the buyer uses PayPal or a credit card, eBay will hold onto your money!

Yea, man.... PayPal is the most one-sided monetary control system, I've ever seen.
They held my last few payments , just like that.

They do it to raise their quarterly holdings... Think about it.

Ebay is starting to make a habit of screwing the sellers. I remember when as a seller you could give more than just positive feedback, now your only option is to give a buyer positive or no feedback. I'm lucky I somehow got on a thing that they don't charge me a listing fee for most things I'd sell. When I'm not using Ebay to sell something and have the buyer use paypal I tell them to send it to me as a gift, paypal doesn't charge any fees on that sort of money transfer (at least last time I used it).

Between ebay and paypal, it costs about 10% to list and sell an item. Used to be around 2-3%.

In the last 3 months, I have had 3 different buyers not pay and come up with lame excuses. Ebay used to kick the deadbeats off, now they let them remain and I have to fight to get my 10% back. Open case, wait ten days, close case, etc. also, they started this global shipping program which sucks as my deadbeat buyers now all seem to come from around the world. I have to opt out of that asap.

Still have 100% feedback though.

I have spent the afternoon canceling bids on an item that ends today. eBay wouldn't let me end the auction early, because it had less than 12 hours remaining, so I have taken the opportunity to send buyers messages about why I'm no longer using eBay, explaining that if they paid me for the item, eBay would withhold THEIR hard earned money from me. So far I've canceled 15 bids in the last few hours. I can't do much, but I won't go quietly!

Yes, if you have sold more than 26 items, and sold something within the prior 90 days you will not be affected. Since I haven't sold 26 items, they will hold my Paypal payments for up to 30 days, or until 7 days after confirmed delivery... I'm not shipping anything until I am paid in full, I don't care who they are. I have had 100% positive feedback for almost ten years, which apparently means nothing to them.

I have been personally been ripped off by a seller who never shipped the item. They received their money and ran. eBay basically said oh well. The seller was a newer seller also. This probably happens often and is ebays answer to hold money until shipment and satisfaction is recieved. I never got my money back or the product. But that's the risk you take with ebay.
And their customer service sucks and don't care.

I stopped using eBay when they started raising their fees.
I don't need them.

I had a run in with ebay, the item was sold then the buyer say it was crap had no power etc. a Milwaukee 28 v impact, I tested it. Ran great sold it, got paid. 2 weeks later i got negative in paypal balance im like wtf, checked oh chit the buyer claim a case against me sayin it was junk, etc. I fought. And sAy whatever. Paid the buyer refund, i waited a few weeks no return item, I asked, Say already mailed it out Ebay sided with the buyer. That was the last time I used ebay to sell stuff. I hate em.

I refuse to sell on ebay anymore. The listing fees, paypal fees, and then the final value credit fees are terrible. You might as well take 10% less on a forum or something and just get rid of it with out the hassle.
