Been digging around and im not able to find a picture of where im supposed to find this thing, i hear its on the drivers side head but if im looking at it correctly this thing is pretty low with a ton of crap in the way, i was hoping i wasnt going to have to remove a crap load of stuff to get my big hand down there to unscrew it and put the new one in, anyone have a pic of the ect sensor on a newer model blazer? pref 2004.

i took a pic of what i think the ect sensor is, am i correct?

if that is the ect sensor im guessing the best course of action would be to remove it from under the wheel well as if i was changing that pesky spark plug.

thanks for any thoughts guys,

little extra info, this all started from getting a p1028 code, the temp gauge reads hot sometimes and reads normal other times.

pic no worky .

should be between exhaust ports or just above them . and might be a wingle wire or weather pack 2 wire depending on year style .

also if injection there is 2 sensors . cyl head is for gauge in dash .

in the intake is for the computer needs.

hmm im not sure, all i know is i got a p0128 code and the reader said ect sensor.

I am pretty sure this is fuel injected, its a 2004

here is a direct link to the pic.

are the sensors the same for the intake and the one of the side?

i also have a new thermostat to put in, i read that might cause this code too if its stuck open.

that looks like the right area for the gauge sensor.

and also I was thinking of telling you change the coolent and t-stat for the hell of it .

with the problems you said on temp fluctuations that to me would lean to a t-stat problem .

just be real carefull / slow with hand tools on t-stat bolts in the intake . slow / steady / wins this race.

just changed the tstat, that was easy, lol..

for kicks i took the radiator cap off and the fluid is brown, guessing that isnt good. i should probably flush out my system about right now correct?

Iv never done any of this, but im pretty sure nothing should be brown in there. looks like rusty water.

btw my heater blows cold too, lol not sure if that could be the cause or not.

you have DEAD dexcool in the system .

drain it out . rinse it all out till clear . redrain .

swap to reg old green coolent . add 3/4 gal straight to compensate for water in block . then 50/50 the rest .

also use garden hose to back flush the heater core hoses on the vehicle before you refill the system. dexcool can ball/sludge up and plug the core or hose . I have fixed way to many no heat problems on s-10 stuff from this problem .

hope this helps you .

next

hah! you are awesome, thanks man, im going to do that.

Ill report back once complete.

watch for frozen on / bonded heater hoses at nipples. be carefull buddy

a little update, i installed the tstat and my heater is now working again!

So thats cool, the temp is staying right under 210 so it seems, its a 195 tstat so i think thats normal, if the light comes on again for the ect ill go ahead and change that too, im still going to flush the system tho, but i just wanted to say that my heater problem seems to be fixed. its blowing nice and warm, i guess that old tstat was stuck closed? im not sure.

side note,

This what seems to be a gasket of some kind, it sits under the air cleaner housing as you can see in this pic, it seems a little old and busted up and doesnt want to stay attached when i put the air cleaner setup back on, do you know if that thing is needed or should i get a new one? its a little broken up and old as you can see.

those mounting tabs bust off a lot if you don't know how to remove the air boot .

undo wingnut / remove the flex tube duct / lift 20-30* and wiggle off throttle body with out breaking that ear off.

time for a junk yard run or ebay . maybe dealer if cheep .
