Hey ya'll

I have a GM 12530282 crate motor with the edelbrock 3505 mpfi unit.

Is there any reason I can't swap it to tpi and use the same 747 'puter with the edelbrock chip? It'll be using the same gm sensors and the chip will drive the 8 injectors.

I've had these units for @ 5 years, finally getting around to installing them.

Any thought's, ideas, suggestions??

Let's see here ... the link posted is to an engine with Vortec heads and the link to the MPFI system is for an intake that fits Vortec heads, so mechanically everything will bolt up.

The Edelbrock MPFI 7747 chip has all the emission stuff programmed into it. From what information I found on the web about the Edelbrock MPFI system, I did not find "Excellent Reviews". Mostly the customer reviews I read were owners wanting some upper RPM performance, which is THE drawback when using the 7747 with 8 injectors.

Based on my experience with my 454 MPFI project ( http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254023 ) I would VERY STRONGLY recommend placing the 7747 on a shelf in the garage and use an engine management system from Larry's Electric http://www.larryselectricsite.com/TPIKIT.html

The Larry's Electric kit uses a GM ECM that was originally designed for 8 TPI injectors, with fuel maps and timing maps up to 6400 RPM!!!

Or you can do like i did. I have a TPI setup on my motor, but I'm running a 97 vortec ECM. I like having the OBD2 setup. it cost a little more in the long run but is well worth it. Check out my build thread in my sig. If you have any more questions just ask.
