My '73 K10 is playing up... 6 mpg, and poor hot starting.
I have the original Quadrajet on it, but i picked up a 1406 Edelbrock 600cfm Performer for $85 on Ebay, that looks in good shape.
Both will get a rebuild...
Is there an opinion here on which is better?

A Q-jet with a good rebuild and rebushed throttle plate is about the best you'll find for a truck that sees trail use. They usually get decent fuel mileage and will work at angles that most other carbs won't. The hard part is finding anybody that still works on carbs.:doah:

Edelbrock does make a little off-road needle and seat kit for the 1406 carb, but the Quadrajet is hands-down the better choice if the truck sees offroad use. I would rebuild the Q-Jet

if the bushings are good, rebuild the quadrabog.... cheap, $30, and easy...
