The quadrajet on the 454 is trash. Will a 600 cfm work with the 454,it has always run rich on the 350.(454 is stock)

600 is too small for a bbc, it's going to need more like 850cfm or so. They came stock with like a 785cfm

I'm curious, "which" 350 do you have? A stock one?? I have the 600cfm Edelbrock on a 350 and it runs like utter crap, but that's because the cam is meant for higher-RPM use. It's not rich so much as there's just too much overlap in the valves, and therefore the fumes from the tailpipe are enough to make everyone within 100 yards of it sick, LOL.

FWIW, my stock Quad was replaced because I didn't realize what was going on with the cam, and it was a 795cfm stock unit. Actually that carb was originally on me old 305.

Yeah the 350 is bone stock. It runs rich and when I put my foot in it I get a trail of black smoke.

Well mine is bone-stock too...it came from GM that way. It's just not a good combo of parts and somebody over there ought to be fired for letting it go out the door that way, LOL.

I have a 400ci in my 1977 that has ran with a 600cfm Edelbrock since about 92' or so. It has always run great, I never imagined that it could use a bigger cfm one. Anybody think I should move up? I thought that 600cfm was more than the factory 4 barrel that it came with originally.
