edelbrock water pumps are junk! ive got two diferent rigs with small blocks and edelbrock water pumps, and both are leaking after only a year or so! what gives?

has edelbrock shot downhill? :eek1:

I haven't ran one before, really never needed to. Bummer man, nothing worse that replacing something that should be superior than stock

Do you keep the proper amount of coolant in the system? You have to remember that when you have a cast block and aluminum intake or any other aluminum part that has water going through it you will develope electrolysis if the coolant mixture isn't correct. This translates into the aluminum eroding and a leak will develope. If it's not a case of electrolysis then it could be caused by over tightening of the fan belt which will cause the bearings to fail and then the seals will leak when that happens.

coolant is tits, but the belt thing makes sense.. is edelbrock warrantied?

I have 2 of them one has been fine, the BB got a leak where it bolted to the block after 2 years. Resealed it with new gaskets and fine so far. They cool well for me.
