Edelbrocks offroad carb??

For what it's worth I have a Edelbrock Thunder 650 (Which is just a rebadged Carter AFB) and love it. It works flawlessly in all weather and circumstances. I don't crawl in my truck but I do wheel and mud over all kinds of terrain, even some steep inclines. I have a friend that had the same carb it had the same experience.

The choke is great. The truck always fires on the first couple turn overs. Before I rebuilt the engine I was even getting up to 16mpg with that carb.

That said I don't really have any point of reference, I've never owned a Q-Jet but people seem to like them too.

I ran the 600 Ede on my SB and it ran flawlessly. I put in the "off road needle and seat" and re-jetted, easy as pie to tune. I'm a propane convert now, good luck.

Im runnin a stock q jet on my 400 and that thing runs great runnin straight up 60 degree mountains or cruising down the freeway.

I rebuilt mine and used offroad needles and seats. It still cuts out up steep climes if you dont keep your foot on it. Before I rebuilt it it'd cut out from doing donuts. All in all its an alright carb. I cant compare it to anything though, this is my first carbd vehicle.
