Is it possible to run the Ford EEC-IV mass air on a big block Chevy? obviously it would need larger injectors, mass air meter and throttle body. it seems fairly plug and play but I don't have any idea how adaptable this system is at compensating for changes. got the idea from www.mass-floefi.com. How doable is this. Would it be worth just buying thier complete set-up?

We talked about that one before.

Can't see any reason to go with the Ford setup over GM, the expensive part of Port EFI are the rails, injectors, and manifold/plenum. No way to get around that, but for what they are charging, I think you could put together a pretty wicked system yourself.

I'm a little behind in the times on fuel injection. From my understanding, the Ford mass air system ajdusts itself if I was to change cams or heads etc. I don't have a clue on how to burn chips for tbi and the way I like to play with stuff I don't want to be burning chips over and over. I have two tbi 350's and they run mint with killer milage but they are fairly stock. I can find the entire Ford setup for piss cheap around here and edlebrock now makes all kinds of intakes with injector bungs. I just want a goof proof set up that isn't a picky beotch like the tbi. GM tbi's have like no air flow unless there is work done to them and i don't feel like paying somebody to do something I'm capable but just don't care to do.

Can anyone do me a favor and post the links to where this has been talked about?

so i wonder why mass-flow uses a gm maf meter and not a ford one then?

i am not worried about the vibration to the maf unit at all.

i was just thinking on getting the whole works off a mustang and retro fitting it to a 454 using a 4bbl throttle body and aftermarket maf and injectors.as for the rest of the motor, nothing to crazy. about 9.5-1, comp xe274 cam, good set of headers, a good intake.

You could do it. But it would be a lot of work. Besides fuel rails, manifold, ECT you will need a distributor that will work with EECIV. You can buy the manifold, rails, and Dist from Mass-Floefi or other aftermarket EFI company.
You will also need to get a TwEEcer or other programmer to reprogram the EECIV to run a BBC. EECIV is a far better more powerful ECM than early GMs. But it is not adaptable enough to slap on a recalibrated MAF meeter and go from a 302 to a built 454 without a lot of re- programing
By the time you bought all the parts and a TwEEcer for $400 I think you would end up spending almost as much $$$ a if you bought the kit. Then there will be all that time and headaches spent adapting sensors, wiring, and tuning.
I think Mass-flo uses a GM MAF because it is big enough to fit right over the TB and not in a intake tube. Putting it right over the TB allows you to use a custom carb type aircleaner and have a nice clean look to the engine compartment without a bunch of wires and tubes.
