Hello,
I'm new here to the CK5 Forms. I am wondering if anyone here has an opinion / information they would like to share on using the EFILive V4 Evaluation Version (Free)? I am so new here I can post the URL to EFILive! "You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more."

My current project is a 1987 GMC with a 7.4 liter (454). I have eliminated the smog pump, and egr (the pickup is for off-road use only). I have programmed a 27SF512 chip (modified ACLX bin file) for the 1987 GMC using Moates.net Burn 2 and a modified 7747 ECM to use the socket booster from Moates.net. I've been using WinALDL, but I could use some information / opinions about EFILive V4.

Thanks,
dave w

I honestly didn't know that efi live supported $42 I thought they just did flash based PCMs. With the quality of the software from Tunerpro (which is basicly free) I see no reason to spend the money on anything else. I am however buying efi live to program the computer for my 6 liter swap.

I would recommend getting the ALDU1 for datalogging with the Tunerpro.

Thanks for the reply bigblock72. I can't post links yet (I'm new here), but yes EFILive V4 is for OBD1 including $42 definition file. I spent a couple minutes on the Moates site looking at ALDU1. I need to find more documentation for the ALDU1. I have a Burn 2 and an Ostrich 2, maybe I should have just bought the APU1?

I have TunerCats RT, which I like better than TunerPro. I've used both TunerCats and TunerPro.

In hind sight, I should have upgraded from $42 to an ECM using either $E6 / $0D definition files. I really like my DataMaster data logging software for my $E6 1993 GMC. With $E6 I can use VEPhd to help tune my definition file and VEPhd works very well with Tuner Cats.

I've had a few minutes to check out ALDU1 on the Moates.Net website. It seems to me that the $42 is not supported for data logging? Here is the copy paste information I have from Moates FAQ page.

GM tuning Frequently asked questions

You can use the ALDU1 and CABL2 together for both datalogging and reprogramming. Just get you a free trial version of TTS DataMaster and then get you a copy of TunerCat with the proper definition.

According to the TTS DataMaster website $42 is not supported.

I am wondering...is there something I am unable to figure out for using ALDU1 and datalogging with ECM 7747? Any links to point me in the correct direction?

Ok,
I've been looking at TunerPro RT...Figured out this much so far.:doah:

Do you see any advantage or disadvantage to the two programs?

I've had good luck with tunerpro RT (when my ALDL cable wasn't a problem lol) but I know on the '747 that 160 baud data transmission rate is going to make the data a bit more "jerky" than the ECM's that can transfer data at 8192.

At this point, I have not had a chance to use either programs. I'll post back once I have a chance to try the software. WinALDL is what I have used so far, which is OK. I was wondering if there was a better software for the 7747?

Really I doubt it, I like Tunerpro as I've mentioned, but it's because it's got more functionality, at least from what I recall of winaldl. I can look at the data, then set the .bin up to be able to burn with my Pocket Programmer.
