On the last trip out I broke a ds stub on the 60 in my M-1009 and I am just now(a month later) gettin around to fixin it.The lockout and the spindle got it also. The spindle is clearly egg shaped,it broke both spindle nut's and I had to take a chisel and break the washer in between the two nuts to get it out.So anybody got any suggestons on how to get the hub off??? I have tried prying it off the spindle but it not will slide off.I am savin the torch as a last resort as I don't want to risk damageing my SW hub if I can find another way.

Can you destroy the outer bearing to get it off with a chisel or something then via force get the hub to come off by removing the seal and back bearing?

I would think that you can get it off but the bearings and races are going to be trash.

Alright so I got it all apart today and finally have it all fixed. It had been suggested on another board to try a puller to get it off.I figured I didnt have anything to loose so I tried it.It didnt have anything good for it to push against so I looked around and found a cover for a 205 idler shaft and it was just right.

Luckily my two jaw puller was long enuf.

It didn't pull it all the way off but did move it enuf that I could get a chisel in there and cut the cage off the bearing(great minds think alike a wally:D) .I took a pair of needlenose pliers and dug the rollers out. That freed it up enuf that I could work it back and forth by hand and it finally came off after the 4th-5th pull.

Looks like somebody is slacking on their wheel bearing maint.:yikes:

I know it's not uncommon to break a axle,I just hope the next one is not this much trouble or cost this much.

At least it made it home, I've cracked spindles that actually broke 20 miles later out on the pavement.
