Looking to order a A/C Delco EGR for my 87 K5 with 350 and 700R4 transmission but rock auto has a few but seem to not give a full description. Wondering if anyone might be able to help me decipher which one so I can get it order. Thanks in advance Brandon

I know for the older trucks, you have to get the OEM # off your existing one as there's some variation for emissions (i.e. CA, Federal, whatever) as well as manual or auto tranny.

In my case, the new one came with a sticker to record the OE # on the replacement so you don't forget.

Well slight problem there! My truck was 305 from factory and had a crate 350 but in it less then 20k ago.

it's not a question of which EGR, that should be straight forward.... it's which indexing washer you install on the pintle that varies slightly and "matters"..

Say what? I need to know this. I just bought a new AC Delco EGR, # 214-5074, for my 87.

Please explain.

EGR valves come with a bag of indexing washers.. about 10 different sizes... you install the proper size according to the chart that comes with the EGR according to what factory EGR was installed... thus the aftermarket sticker Dremu was referring to..

it is VERY common for someone in the vehicles history to not have put the sticker on.. at that point you hope they actually installed the appropriate washer, and match yours up to that.. they are lettered, A thru j, etc usually...

I got nothing like that. Just the A/C Delco box with the EGR and gasket.

it should have one installed on the pintle already than.. did you give the VIN # when you ordered/bought it?

No...just bought it because it is what was listed for my year and model of transmission.

GM part #17113372

Not ordered anything yet but my truck was a 305 and now has a 350 doesn't that make a difference on the EGR valve? I can check napa tec and see but seems like emission parts don't cross over on these trucks (could be wrong)

If the old one was original and seemed to work OK, you might find a number stamped into it on the vacuum can or on the side of the mounting flange..an AC Delco number about 7 digits long..its best to stick with OEM ones ,aftermarket ones that are more or less "universal" dont always prove satisfactory...
