Going to EJS in Moab this year with John Curtin and his jeep Sargeant Savage. Leaving this afternoon and driving 26 hrs straight switching off every 3 hrs. First time going to Moab so I'm pretty excited about this trip despite the long drive.

I will post up pics from the event here if anyone is interested.

Anybody else heading out there this week?

Have fun. I stay home due to the sheer number of people. I've heard there's been a lot the last several years.

Hopefully you will get a chance to see some of Moab without the circus, it's a wonderful place

Fwiw, the ORD crew should be there with the full size invasion group.

I've been told since it's the 50th anniversary they are expecting 200,000 people and 25,000+ rigs

The last time I was at EJS was about 10 years ago and it was a packed nightmare back then. Can't imagine its gotten any better since then. Hence why I haven't been back. I think it's something everyone should experience at least once, but I much prefer to go to Moab for events like Blazer Bash where the trails aren't packed and each camp ground isn't rocking from drunk idiots all night long. Just not what I like to deal with when I go wheeling.

Have fun though, and take lots of pics and post them up. We all like pics :thumb:

It's starting to get pretty busy with tourist season in general but should be pretty cool. The weather has been awesome. I like getting to check out all the rigs that come to town with the people who have big money.

Yeah, I have never been to an off-road event of this magnitude so it is going to be sensory overload I'm sure. It's also going to be the first real vacation I've taken in about 6 years. Usually when I take off from work it's to do home projects where I'm putting in 14-16 hr days doing carpentry, drywall, painting, grade work, etc.

I'm hoping that since we'll mainly be riding with Ian's group that we'll be in a bit of a "speed pass" scenario and not have to deal with as much congestion and waiting on the trail.

Yeah its crazy with how many people and rigs pour into town. My rigs not ready but the only run I would want to do is the fullsize invasion. The rest of it I can just avoid the crowds and check out any other time but they always say jeep safari is something you need to experience at least once.

If you see this thing running around, tell him I said hi. My brother only lives 7 miles away. Talk to him maybe once a month.

Are you guys running with safari runs?

They have the right of way on any trail. If your not on that run you pull over let them do their thing.

It's a big deal because of the BLM permitting.

I will echo the sentiment of everyone should go once. But it's crazy crowded with lots of high dollar morons.

If it's your first time it will be a blast man. My first one was in 97.

Not sure how the do potato salad hill anymore or if it's even open during EJS. You gotta go just for a bit.

I have watched probably a 100 rollovers there over the years. 2 of them from very very close up

Like your face going "Sky dirt sky dirt"?

One was like that. The other was sky dirt sky dirt sky dirt sky dirt sky dirt sky dirt sky dirt.

Then some drunk asshole released my seatbelt, I was upside down at the time. That hurt way more than the roll
Yeah, that.
At BB16, ask my sister about her fun experience being upside down.

That's one of those things I learned not to do drag racing. Brace a guy before you pull the seat belt
