Electric Back Window

So I am just asking, since i don't know, and can't see where anyone said. But how does it disengage when locked? Is there a possibility that it is in the "locked" position? Or is there a setting which has to be done at first, upon initial install?

The clutch that engages the regulator is always in contact. What disengages when the key is rotated to the "locked" position is on the lock cylinder. It retracts a pawl that is normally what drives the clutch when the crank is turned. With it pulled in, the crank spins but won't turn the regulator. When the key is rotated to the "unlocked" position, the pawl pops up and catches on the inside of the clutch, allowing it to turn the regulator.

The difference is not in the width, but how deep the regulator bolts into the tailgate. The Sub regulator probably bolts in further away from the outer panel requiring the regulator to have a longer part where the clutch drives it than the Blazer. Putting in a Blazer regulator in a Sub location and it's probably not going to reach the clutch.

There is a video online that demonstrates the locking and unlocking and how it works. I had to reassemble my tailgate with a new electric regulator at the end of last week. I had an elk hunt that started on Friday and needed a rear window :(
I sold all of the manual conversion parts to a friend that wants to convert his K5. I can 100% assure you that the manual regulator I received DID NOT work with my tailgate.

Suburbans need Suburban window parts...they tailgate is totally different. Check out the LMC catalog, they have very good parts breakdowns. (pictures). I plan on doing the same thing with my 2 burbs, if I don't torch them first...grrrr

I went back and checked the GM parts catalog for both the Blazer and Suburban and they also list two different part numbers for the manual regulators. The clutch is the same part number for either so it tells me the Regulator on the Suburban fits in a slightly different location in the gate due to the difference in sheetmetal.

I don't know why Brother's shows one part number for both when GM listed two different part numbers. I'd call them and find out what's up. I don't think they should give you much grief to return it.
Can you send me a link to where you found the different part numbers?

15641781 is the Suburban manual crank part number from GM and the 15641780 for the Blazer with manual crank. I can't link from the GM online catalog due to the security settings.

Thanks. It looks like it has been discontinued so it may be tricky to find one.
