Electric brake controllers....

Should only have four wires. Power to ignition +, ground, a wire to the brake light switch, and a wire that runs from the back of the controller to the jack at the rear of the truck.

I've wired my tow rig for 7 pin round both in the box and at the bumper. I know that the wire that runs all the way to the back is blue usually. As to the others, I cannot remember.

IMO there is only one brake controller. Tekonsha Prodigy.

Thanks for the help! I would buy a new one, but I need it really soon, so I'd rather get this one going and swap out later when I have a need to do more towing.

The Tekonsha Prodigy controller, where are they available?

Thanks, I'll take a look there. For now, I feel pretty stupid. I wasn't aware that rental car trailers come with HYDRAULIC brakes. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Still, I'm planning on hooking this one up, and upgrading once I have the need. For reference, in case anyone else runs into this trouble, blue is to the trailer brakes, red is to the brake switch on the pedal, white is to ground, and black is to bat + (fused of course).

I got mine from a guy on a diesel website.
$115 new in the box (sealed...he ordered it and had to buy another before it arrived due to a trip).

I think they're about 140 at campingworld.
