electric choke or not

I have an electric im sure, it makes sense, i dont pull a cable or anything to choke it.

From factory no, it was a stove type choke, someone may have changed it by now though. You just have to look on the pass. side of the carb. and look for wires.

Pot type choke on 78'; It has a coil that sits on a small well on the manifold, with a tin cover over it. That coil has a mechanical link to the choke blade. You have to really make sure the linkage is freely moving.

This leads into a question I recently had. I have a divorced type choke on my '84 and wanna know what's involved in swapping it with an electric choke. I realize I need the choke and a wire ran, but what do I need to run the wire to?

I reccomend wiring the choke to a circuit that is hot only when the engine is running. You can use an oil pressure switch to serve the function. Using an engine running power source prevents the choke from heating if the key is on and engine off.
