No one knows. It needs whatever GM spec'd, and no one has ever provided that information that I'm aware of.

The Ford Windstar fans are enough, aftermarket fans are a crapshoot. Windstars are a better option IMO.

thanks for the info
i found cadilac cts fan LS6 set up stock im thinking that might work also .i will look for the windstar fans too

Windstar fans are easy to find and they're a good fit. I know they're easy to find because i found mine next to the jeep XJ I was pulling the steering shaft out of. They're a good fit because mine fit in the corner of my garage just perfectly. I'll put them in one day. Plus being dual fans, it opens up a lot of options - dual temp settings, A/C control, manual AND auto on/off, etc.

Our '05 Avalanche has dual electric fans, it appears to be a factory setup, it fits like it came from the factory, wired in and everything. Not sure of the size comparison of the two different years of radiator though.

They do a pretty decent job.

My favorite electric fan is in the AC system. Otherwise everything else can stay mechanical thank you very much. :D

I tried running some late model fans from a silverado, they ended up being too deep and hit the water pump pulley so I picked up a windstar setup.

'05+ 1500s/Tahoe/Suburban/Avalanche got electric fans factory :deal:

Aftermarket fans are such a rip off. $400 for a fan that doesn't match any OEM quality control (no matter what they tell you). Just think about it, have you ever heard of a factory electric fan failing? Neither have I. I picked up a fan out of a late 80s Mercury Cougar for my V8 S10. It didn't end up fitting so I found a dual fan setup from a '00ish Grand AM for it. I then used the Cougar fan in my K10 which fit well. Each fan was $25 from the salvage yard. The Cougar fan works great but the engine gets warm with slow speed high load/rpm stuff so I may switch to a Windstar dual fan package next summer.

I figured it was a factory item, just wasn't sure if it was an option or standard installment, as far as hearing about factory installed electric fans failing, yes, I have heard and seen several, it's mainly the motors locking up, which I would expect anyways from any high mileage vehicle. They're going to wear out, eventually.

Usually just replace the motor and good to go.

Pauly383 had to replace on eon his Impala a couple of years back.

Good to know how the late model units fit the older trucks, these things pull some serious air and I had thought about trying to fit on in the Burb
