i have done this mod,
originally i put a 16' puller. i got it from the local bone yard for 15 bucks. it came off a late model bonneville. i bought an adjustable thermostat relay from the zone and hooked it up, another 15 bucks. i set the relay at 185, the same temp as my thermostat. i love it! never ran so cool. (pulling through the tranny cooler also.)
then i put an oil cooler and power steering pump cooler next to it. no air flowing through them when the truck was stopped. so i installed a 12' pusher to cool the coolers.
the only time the temp has exceeded 185 is on the hiway doing 80. it creeps up to 210. i guess the water is moving so fast through the system it doesnt have time to cool. i do carry an extra relay just in case.
