hey guys, I've got a Carter electric pump mounted wrongly in the front of the truck, low on the framerail. It was there when I got the truck, and worked, so I haven't messed with it. The fuel pressure is way low at about 3psi and drops on reving. 71' Blazer with Edelbrock 1407 on a '96 vortec head roller 350 (stock otherwise...)
Here's my question... I've got an inline Holley pump that's normally used with the projection tbi setup, so I assume it puts out more than 14psi. If I mount it properly close to the tank and low, would it make sense that the internally regulated Carter would act like a fuel regulator? I've always heard that two electric pumps were better than one and since the Carter is already setup... Anyway I think you get the idea. Should I leave the Carter and run both or should I ditch the Carter and get a Holley fuel regulator?
I suppose I could just install the Holley pump and check the pressure at the gadge.... I guess I'm really wondering about the idea and what effect it might have on the longevity of both/either pump. I also wonder if one of the pumps failed, would the other keep the truck running? I'm guessing the Holley might be too much of a restriction for the Carter to pull through...
Anyway, thanks in advance. I'll probably go ahead and mount the Holley this morning. Do I have to use a relay or can I just use a keyed power?
Just don't want to do anything fuelish...
