i have an 89 k5 blazer. it currently has no engine but has an eletric fuell pump hooked up because 89 was the fuel injection year. i have a 75 k5 blazer that is carb and i am puttin that engine into the 89. the new engine has a mechanical fuel pump. do i take out the eletric pump and just continue the fuel line to the mechanical? is there a pump i have to change in the gas tank? :dunno:

You can do either, I would block off the mechanical pump and use the in tank pump.

TBIs don't run very high pressure, but higher than a mechanical pump so you may have to run a regulator.

Pretty sure you can just unplug the pump at the tank if you wanna run your mechanical one.

so i get rid of the eletric pump on the frame and unplug the pump in the gas tank? would it be easier to just swap gas tanks? id keep the eletric pump but its wired real ****ty and i do alot of mudding and i think it will just pull the wires out. the gas tank from the 75 is all set up for a mechanical pump and its got a nice skid plate i think ill just swap em

There's only one pump and it's in the tank. The only thing on the frame is the filter about half way down the passenger side.

I just did this "swap"

I still have my electric fuel pump all hooked up in the tank (23 gal) and I have my mechanical fuel pump on the new engine and it just pulls through the in tank.

I'm running a carb'd motor in my '91 using the original electric pump. Just add a regulator and go, super simple.
