Ok so I have an electrical drain on my truck...
I was told to take a volt meter and put it on amps.... then take the ground cable off...
put the meter in between the battery and cable... forget what it should be but when you start pulling fuses and the ams drop then you found your circuit with the drain.... well I didnt have any draw at all well barely...
but I am not sure if this was my problem but I replaced my ground cable.....
before I get into this description.... curious if I have my cables wrong..
On diesels with dual bats.... I think the bat on the drivers side... + and - go back to the other battery??? right??
well I have mine like this...
pass bat:
side posts
- to alt bracket
+ to starter
top posts:
+ to + on drivers bat.
drivers bat:
side posts
+ from pass bat
- to bracket on header bolt (long threaded bolt I put in to hold ps pump bracket and all)
should I move this - to the pass battery?

ok so anyway I replaced my pass - due to the following:
I put jumper cables on my truck to the pass battery.... the + and -
on my camaro i put the + on the bat and - on the frame....
well the truck wouldnt jump....
so I then took the - of the camaro frame and put on the bat... on the truck I put the - on the alt bracket... truck immediately fired up.... so seems the cable was bad..... not sure yet but already after replacing the cable... I can crank the truck over... (batteries are dead as they dont appear to be getting a good charge with the other cable....

so should I move my drivers - to the pass battery? or should it be good where it is at?

went to autozone and talked to a guy there... he seemed to know his chevy trucks...

he explained it to me but basically I want to run - to - and + to +
then 1 bat (factory) - to alt bracket and + to starter... so I did that tonight... will see how that does... truck fired right up so that was promising!!!! :wink1:

update....

well I put 2 new batteries in... duralast gold 1000ca in parallel....
and they died too.. so I still had a draw....

also found it..... seems I had the fuel tank switch wired into battery...so sometimes when on one tank the relay just opens and switches the tank.... then recently I switched to the other tank..... well then it has to use voltage to keep the tank switch that way......

with it plugged in... I had 12.4v on the batteries.... when I unplugged it... I had 12.5v.... so only .1v but still.....
